The 5100 butane gas torch has been designed by the engineers in the Guilbert Express development department to be versatile and enable you to solve all your DIY problems at home. Operating on butane, the plumbing torch is robust and its ease of use makes it accessible to all.
Technical characteristics of the butane gas torch 5100
The gas torch 5100 operates on butane and provides a gas flow rate of 1.5 bar. At 1,000 g/h you get a power of 13 kW at a flame temperature of 2.552°F to 3.362 °F.
The plumbing torch is fitted with a 1.5 m long rubber hose ISO 3821. The diameter of the nozzle is 35 mm.
It is suitable for working on all types of materials: copper, steel, brass, stainless steel, lead…
Applications of the butane gas torch 5100
The butane gas torch 5100 is suitable for all do-it-yourself applications in the home: deburring, defrosting, scraping, plumbing, heating…
Plumbing at home
With your butane gas torch, you can easily manage your plumbing. Tin welding enables you to introduce tin between your fitting and the tube, in order to join the two parts together, with a perfect seal.
Set your torch to heat the copper tube until it turns red. Then apply a thin layer of tin and heat it up again. This allows you to get the tin into the gap between the tube and the fitting to make all the connections that you will then form or embed.
You can do copper welding the same way. Even if they prove to be more delicate, with the manoeuvrability of the 5100 torch, you can quickly master the technique.
Don’t forget to clean your copper tubes thoroughly before you solder them to make your job easier. You can use a powder or a scouring paste and rub until the copper looks like new again.
Unbolt your screws and bolts
When you find yourself with bolts welded to their screws, because of the moisture that has generated rust, do not force them. This could blunt the edges of the bolt, on which you will then have no grip, or break everything due to torsional forces.
When the two parts are welded together, there is no longer any use for the rust dissolver, as it cannot get between the screw and the bolt. By heating the assembly with your gas torch, you expand the metal, which compresses the rust. As it cools, it will naturally break.
If you still can’t unscrew, use your unscrewing device, which this time will be able to penetrate between the two parts and solve your problem.
Paint stripping
Paint stripping with a plumbing torch saves you from using polluting and harmful chemicals. Industrial paint strippers are expensive and give off toxic fumes. In addition, packaging are a nuisance that needs to be treated in a waste disposal centre, as it remains highly polluting.
When flame-scraping, you can restore your wall, or any surface to its raw appearance, with a simple painter’s knife or squeegee. All you have to do is heat the surface reasonably and, as soon as the paint blisters, scrape it off.
You can use your gas torch for all small jobs around the house. The 5100 is handy and easy to use. It will bring you complete satisfaction.
